About the Coordination Committee

The Coordination Committee of UNESCO Chairs in the Russian Federation ensures effective collaboration between more than 50 Russian UNESCO Chairsoperating within the international UNITWIN programme.

The Committee creates a shared professional space for knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and the development of UNESCO priorities in education, science, and culture.

Ivan Lobanov

Ivan Vasilievich Lobanov

Position: Rector of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics

Academic degree: PhD in Law.

Born on January 28, 1974, in Saratov, Russia.

From 2007 to 2020, Dr. Lobanov held a number of senior positions in government and higher education, including: Member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Director of the Department for Civil Service and Human Resources at the Government of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation, Rector of the Moscow State Institute of Culture, and Rector of the State University of Management.

He is a recipient of state honors and awards from the Russian Federation.

Main Tasks of the Commission:

Coordination of Participation

Engaging federal government bodies, experts, and organizations in UNESCO events and programs

Fulfillment of Obligations

Ensuring that Russia's international obligations arising from UNESCO membership are fulfilled

Preparation and Support

Developing guidance for official delegations and representatives of the Russian Federation in UNESCO bodies, and facilitating their work

Information and Expert Support

Disseminating information about UNESCO and providing advisory support to Russian specialists and agencies

International Partnership

Developing cooperation with national commissions for UNESCO of other countries

Staffing Support

Participating in the selection of candidates for work in the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation, the UNESCO Secretariat, and the organization's projects
