Registration Open for the XVI International Academic Conference "Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy"

On 14–16 October 2026, HSE ISSEK will hold the XVI International Academic Conference "Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy". The conference will be held online, participation is free, and the working languages are English and Russian with simultaneous translation.

The XVI International Academic Conference "Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy" will take place from 14 to 16 October 2026. It is organised by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) at HSE University, within the framework of the Strategic Project "National Centre for Socio-Economic and Science, Technology Foresight" and the UNESCO Chair on Future Studies.

The conference will address a wide range of issues in technology foresight and science, technology and innovation policy. Participants will examine new approaches and tools for managing research and development and exchange best practices in their implementation. Speakers will include representatives of leading research and educational centres and companies from around the world.

The programme comprises six sessions and a special workshop:

  1. Evaluation and Analysis of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (14 October).

  2. Innovation in Global Cities (14 October).

  3. Foresight: Best Practices (15 October).

  4. Advances in Foresight Methodology (15 October).

  5. Decoding Future Skills: International Frameworks for Digital World (15 October).

  6. Foresight and Artificial Intelligence (16 October).

  7. Special Workshop "Foresight in BRICS Countries" (16 October), moderated by Alexander Sokolov, Head of the UNESCO Chair on Future Studies at HSE University.

Speakers come from Peking University, Seoul National University and Chung-Ang University, Nagoya University, the University of Campinas, the University of Pretoria, the University of Ottawa, the Rochester Institute of Technology in the UAE, Cedefop, TERI in India, the Egyptian Science, Technology and Innovation Observatory, and research institutes in Iran and Hungary.

The conference will be held online via Zoom, and the link will be sent upon registration. The working languages are English and Russian, with simultaneous translation. Participation is free of charge.
