UNESCO Chair «Socio-Economic Models of Biosphere Reserves» of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics participated in the conference «The Unit of Nature as an Investment Mechanism to Stimulate a Circular economy in Green Construction»

On April 16, 2026, the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference «The Unit of Nature as a Mechanism investments to stimulate a Circular economy in Green construction: environmental challenges, risks of loss of natural systems, new economic mechanisms and tools».

The UNESCO Chair of Socio-Economic Models of Biosphere Reserves was one of the key organizers and active participants of the event.

Within the framework of the conference topical issues of the integration of natural ecosystems into economic processes, the development of a circular economy, the introduction of innovative standards in green construction, as well as the formation of a national biodiversity accounting system were discussed. Special attention was paid to the concept of the «Unit of Nature» as a new economic tool that allows assessing and verifying the increase in the value of ecosystem goods, as well as using them as a basis for digital rights and investment mechanisms.

The UNESCO Chair presented a report by the Co-chair, Professor P.V. Terelyansky, «Institutional integration of biosphere reserves, research program». Pavel Vasilevich in his speech stressed the importance of institutional integration of biosphere reserves into modern economic and digital models, and outlined priority areas for scientific research and interdisciplinary cooperation.

During the conference, a cooperation agreement was signed between Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and EcoStandard group, which opens up new prospects for joint projects in the field of sustainable development, ecological construction and the introduction of innovative tools for assessing natural capital.
