The VIII International Forum "Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies" was held at SUAI under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair "Distance Engineering Education" named after professor A.A. Ovodenko

On March 4, the opening of the annual International Forum "Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies" took place at St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation. This year's event is taking place for the eighth time and has a special status — the forum is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the SUAI.

Over the years, the forum has convincingly proved its relevance to the broad scientific and professional community, becoming an authoritative platform for the exchange of experience in the application of modern information and measurement systems in high-tech manufacturing, as well as in the field of education.

The event is held under the auspices of the unique UNESCO Chair "Distance Engineering Education" named after professor A.A. Ovodenko, established in 1999 and contributing to the successful involvement of students and staff of SUAI in leading educational initiatives of other countries.

According to tradition, Dr. Yulia Antokhina, St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation, Professor, Doctor of Economics, Academician of the Metrological Academy, wished fruitful work to the forum participants.

"St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation has been holding the International Forum "Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies" since 2019. While the first forum brought together about fifty participants and just over fifty presentations, this year the total number of papers submitted across all sections has exceeded three hundred! This fact shows how relevant the issues considered by the participants of the event are for Economics. The geography of the forum is also expanding every year. This year's participants include researchers from universities in Belarus, Uzbekistan, representatives of the real economic sectors and scientists from Rwanda, Kazakhstan, Peru, and the People's Republic of China; participants from India are already regular partners of the forum. Such broad and representative international participation shapes the innovative and integrative nature of the forum’s final resolution, which is intended to promote industrial development in all participating countries. I wish all participants and guests of the VIII International Forum “Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies” heated discussions, interesting ideas, and the pleasure of communicating with like-minded people!” concluded Dr. Yulia Antokhina.

In honor of the 85th anniversary of the University and in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the field of scientific work and international cooperation, Dr. Yulia Antokhina was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of Chitkara University of India". The diploma and a memorable gift to Yulia Anatolyevna were presented by Dr. Saurav Dixit, Vice-Rector for Research at Chitkar University, who expressed his sincere gratitude for the development of partnerships linking the universities.

Dr. Vladimir Okrepilov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the Metrological Academy of the Russian Federation, Honorary Citizen of St. Petersburg, Professor, Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies and Industrial Safety at SUAI, addressed the forum with a welcoming speech.

“I note with satisfaction that the forum has grown into a major scientific event for the industry, bringing together scientists and university specialists who are committed to solving the key problems of national and global metrology. Much of the credit for the forum becoming a tradition and earning high prestige belongs to SUAI, personally to its rector Yulia A. Antokhina, and to all university staff involved in organizing this significant event,” summarized Dr. Vladimir Okrepilov

He also stressed that today, when import substitution has become the defining vector of development of most branches of the national industry, and the role of metrology is recognized as a priority in achieving Russia’s scientific and technological leadership, the participants of this forum bear a great responsibility for creating reliable scientific and technological prospects for the advancement of metrology.

The conference’s plenary session featured presentations by Konstantin Chekirda, Deputy General Director of the D. I. Mendeleev All-Russian Research Institute of Metrology; Dr. Saurav Dixit, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research at Chitkara University (India); Yuri Ivanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Aerospace Measuring and Computing Systems at SUAI; Umirbek Umbetov, Rector of Bolashak University (Kazakhstan); Professor Abdul Mazid, Head of the School of Mechanical Processes and Materials Science at Central Queensland University (Australia); and Subhav Singh, Associate Professor at Chitkara University (India).

The work continued across eight thematic sections. The forum proceedings will include more than 300 abstracts of papers presented at the VIII International Forum “Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies.”
